Registration Fee: ~$0 (TBD)
Coach(s): Amy Bergstrom
What is Science Olympiad?
Science Olympiad is a team competition where schools across the country compete against each other in various fields of science. The competitions consist of a series of 23 team events, with each team having between 1-4 members. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on group participation.
There are two divisions: B and C; B is middle school, C is high school (we will be focusing on Division C). Each year, a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the ever-changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering and technology.
How do I prepare?
It is like preparing for track meet. 20-30 hours of preparation per event is necessary to do well. There materials available for each event on the science Olympiad website as well as the entire internet. We recommend participating in no more than 4 events.
